The Collective experience.

“Life keeps leading us on journeys we would never go on if it were up to us. Don’t be afraid. Have faith. Find the lessons. Trust the journey.”

In 2013 my life took an unexpected, unplanned but exciting path. Angove Street Collective was forming and I was invited to join as one of the founding members. Angove Street Collective was a trailblazer at a time when shared work spaces were a new concept and I was thrilled to be a part of it.

I had considered that this may be a temporary kind of ‘pop up’ situation at first as I was semi retired from flowering and unsure of my direction after 18 years in business….but…..this relationship and the support of the collective helped renew my love of flowers and retail again. Being part of an ever changing and evolving collective has taught me the value of COMMUNITY over COMPETITION and relationships over self – there is no ‘I’ in TEAM.

I remember thinking that I was in the cool group for the first time in my life! Little did I know that this decision was to be pivotal in my personal and business development. I had always worked as a lone business so to be thrown into the deep end with many businesses under the one roof was a true growth experience. Working alongside industry legends such as The Perth Upmarket, Ambassador home, Paper Fusion, Elk, Morgan Marks, Eucalypt Homewares, Old Grey House and Turner Galleries was such an incredible opportunity.

You can learn so much from each other in these communities and you develop the characteristic needed to thrive in a team such as communication, flexibility and patience! I learnt a lot in those five years and formed wonderful friendships with business in all different industries such as The Little Gifter Co, Ishk Jewels, Bianko and Jet Empire jewellery.

Embarking on my next exciting retail adventure, a stand alone store – thankfully on the same strip as my Angove family was my next business move.

I would like to thank everyone who has been there for me on this journey in The Angove Street Collective as part of this incredible team – the best work friends, past members and customers. You have all played a special part, thank you.
